Michelle Powers

Attorney, Advocate, JD

Michelle focuses on creative, practical approaches to obtaining a free and appropriate education for each of her clients. As a dedicated public interest attorney with over ten years of litigation experience, Michelle’s background in civil rights law is a testament to her dedication to advocacy for underrepresented members of society.

She was called to education law after prosecuting misdemeanor cases against juveniles in the San Diego City Attorney’s Office. It was there that she witnessed the disproportionate effects of zero-tolerance disciplinary policies on families of color. Michelle is committed to zealously fighting for equal representation under the law for all students.

When she is not practicing, Michelle enjoys volunteering with Big Brothers & Big Sisters, a community organization that helps to provide educational and social enrichment opportunities for underprivileged youth.
